Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has announced the completion of Ghana’s first local music streaming platform, a major initiative aimed at improving revenue collection and distribution for Ghanaian artists.

Speaking at a meeting with the creative arts community, Dr. Bawumia emphasized that this platform would offer better financial returns to musicians compared to foreign-owned services like Spotify.

The new platform, which is set to launch in November, will allow for better tracking of music streams, collection of royalties, and fairer distribution of earnings to content creators.

This development comes after years of collaboration between various industry stakeholders, including Musica, Gamro, music producers, and IT professionals.

The platform is expected to significantly benefit musicians, film producers, and content creators in Ghana by enhancing their revenue potential and expanding their global reach.

Dr. Bawumia confirmed that the government would provide financial support for the platform's development, ensuring its sustainability and long-term success.

This project marks a significant step in empowering Ghana’s creative arts sector.
