Afua Asantewaa O. Aduonum has wrapped up an awe-inspiring 121-hour and 39-minute singing marathon, captivating audiences and strengthening her bid to secure the Guinness World Record (GWR) for the longest singing marathon by an individual.

Hosted at Heroes’ Park within Kumasi’s iconic Baba Yara Stadium, the five-day musical journey began on December 21, 2024, and concluded on Christmas Day. This symbolic finish amplified the celebratory spirit, showcasing Ghana's vibrant music culture.

During the marathon, the 34-year-old singer and media personality performed over 200 songs across diverse genres such as gospel, highlife, afrobeat, and hiplife, celebrating Ghana’s musical heritage.

Reflecting on her accomplishment, Afua expressed heartfelt joy. “I am fulfilled, considering the fact that I succeeded in promoting Ghanaian songs,” she stated.

Afua credited her success to her dedicated team, including Gladys Osei Owiredu (manager), Kofi Owusu Aduonum (husband and Head of PR), Fredrick Fosu, Kelvin Abban (Creatives), and Isaac Amponsah (Operations). “My team was instrumental in this journey,” she acknowledged.

This attempt marks her second bid to claim the GWR title. In 2023, Afua sang for an impressive 126 hours, surpassing India’s Sunil Waghmare's record of 105 hours.

Unfortunately, technicalities invalidated her effort. Undeterred, she returned this year stronger and better prepared.

With the singing marathon concluded, Afua and her team now focus on submitting the required documentation to the Guinness World Records. This includes video evidence, witness statements, and performance logs to verify adherence to all guidelines.

If validated, Afua Asantewaa will officially hold the title, etching her name in history and further elevating Ghana's global music prominence.
