A 36-year-old trader, Ruth Arthur, alias Amina, has been granted bail after allegedly breaking into her ex-lover’s home, setting his belongings on fire, and stealing GH₵22,000. The Enchi District Magistrate Court granted her bail at GH₵30,000 with two sureties after she pleaded guilty with an explanation to charges of unlawful entry, causing damage, and theft.

What Happened? The Allegations

The complainant, David Anni (alias Nana Atopah), an Okada rider from Amonie in the Aowin Municipality, had been in a relationship with Ruth for two years.

Their relationship ended tragically following the death of their two-month-old child, which led Ruth’s family to oppose their union.

On March 3, 2025, while David was attending his brother’s wedding in Nyameah, he received a distress call from a friend.

He was shocked to learn that Ruth had broken into his room and set his belongings on fire.

The Damage: What Was Destroyed?

Upon rushing home, David found his room had been forcibly broken into. His savings of GH₵22,000 were missing, and several valuable items had been damaged, including:

32-inch Hisense flat-screen TV

Binatone standing fan

Sony speakers

Master decoder

Double-bed mattress

Kitchen container drum & other items

Total cost of damages: GH₵27,019
