Ghanaian actor Big Akwes has made waves with his recent comments regarding the people of Kumasi, claiming that anyone born and raised in the city is involved in scams.
In an interview on Angel TV, he bluntly stated that scamming is so pervasive in Kumasi that it affects everyone, from community leaders to the general public—even pastors. His remarks have ignited criticism, as some accuse him of generalizing and unfairly representing the city’s residents.
According to Big Akwes, Kumasi’s culture allegedly fosters deceptive practices, especially among young people. "Anyone born and grown up in Kumasi is a scammer; I insist on what I say," he declared.
"Everyone, from the leadership to the lowest person, including pastors, are scammers. Just take a look at what young boys at Kejetia do with people’s phones,” he explained, distancing his comments from the TV network itself.
In the same conversation, Big Akwes also responded to longstanding rumors about a supposed relationship with Freda, the former wife of another actor.
He categorically denied any romantic connection, stating he never married her and wants to avoid discussing it publicly, especially due to his international business partners. "I have done nothing to her, and I don’t remember ever marrying her. If you want more details, you should ask Freda, not me," he said.
