The Ghanaian international Ibrahim Osman expressed his happiness on social media following his first-ever UEFA Champions League match. The Black Stars winger was instrumental in Feyenoord's victory over Girona on Wednesday night, securing a vital away victory. At the highly competitive Estadi Municipal de Montilivi, Osman began and played the full 61 minutes as his team easily defeated Girona 3-2.
Four of the 22 touches made by the former Nordjaelland standout occurred within the opposition's box. He demonstrated his dribbling prowess by finishing three of four dribbles. He also proved to be a persistent threat in duels, winning eight of them in all, including seven on the ground.
The highly regarded winger celebrated his debut in UEFA's top club tournament on social media after the match. "Debut in the Champions League plus three points. A proud time for my family and me. David Lopez gave Girona the lead in the 19th minute, while Yangel Herrera's own goal in the 23rd minute gave the visitors a point back.
After Antoni Milambo hit the net in the 33rd minute, the Dutch team scored to increase their lead. In response, the home team's Donny van de Beek scored an equaliser in the 73rd minute. However, Ladislav Krejci's own goal gave the visitors the maximum points, and Feyenoord grabbed the win with a few minutes remaining.
Osman made his professional debut for FC Nordsjaelland in February 2023 while on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion. He rapidly gained notoriety for his outstanding performances.
The skilled winger, who recently joined Brighton from the Danish Premier League, possesses international experience with the Ghana Black Stars. His inclusion in the Black Stars roster for the forthcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sudan is anticipated.
