“Clear My Name”—Sekondi MP to Sue Party Members Over Drug Smuggling Allegations
In a dramatic political twist with potentially far-reaching consequences, the Member of Parliament for Sekondi, Blay Nyameke Armah, has vowed to sue members of his own party—the New Patriotic Party (NPP)—for allegedly linking him to a massive $350 million cocaine seizure that shocked the nation.
The controversy follows a high-stakes drug bust led by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) on Tuesday, March 25, at Pedu Junction in Cape Coast. Acting on a covert tip-off, authorities intercepted a tipper truck heading to Accra. Hidden beneath layers of sand were 143 sacks of cocaine, weighing approximately 3.3 tonnes, traced back to the Western Region.
But what began as a criminal investigation has spiraled into political warfare.
The Allegations and the Outrage
According to Mr. Armah, the first public insinuation of his involvement came from Deputy Education Minister Hon. Ntim Fordjour, who hinted at the involvement of a known parliamentary candidate in the Western Region during a live interview. The storm intensified when Lawuratu Musah-Saaka, a vocal NPP communicator, explicitly named Armah as being linked to the scandal.
In an exclusive interview with Citi News, Armah didn’t mince words:
“I have no knowledge about anything like that. My first time hearing it was when Hon. Ntim Fordjour made those allegations. Then on Monday, Lawuratu Musah-Saaka also made a similar allegation but specifically referring to me.”
The MP stressed that these allegations are not just defamatory—they are dangerous.
Legal Firepower Activated
Blay Armah says he’s now preparing a comprehensive writ of summons, targeting every party involved in disseminating the accusations.
“The writ will target the one who made the allegation, the platform that hosted it, the producer of that platform, and the NPP communicator who made that allegation.”
He also confirmed his intention to formally report the matter to the Speaker of Parliament, requesting an internal probe to clear his name and protect his political integrity.

The $350M Question: A Political Powerplay or Criminal Cover-Up?
As investigations continue into the origins and intended destination of the cocaine haul, political analysts are divided: is this a case of internal sabotage within the ruling NPP, or are whistleblowers shedding light on deeper party entanglements?
For now, Blay Armah’s response is emphatic—he’s not taking this lying down.
Conclusion: Politics, Power & Peril
With Ghana’s political scene already charged ahead of the 2024 elections, this controversy adds yet another volatile layer. Whether it ends in courtroom victories or deeper divisions within the NPP, one thing is clear—Sekondi’s MP is not backing down.
