Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President of Ghana and the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential candidate, has pledged to prioritize youth empowerment and job creation as core components of his administration if elected in December’s elections.
Speaking at the “Bawumia for Jobs” event in Accra on November 3, 2024, he assured young Ghanaians that their voices would directly influence the government’s policies and that their aspirations would guide national development.
Dr. Bawumia emphasized that his frequent engagement with Ghana’s youth has deepened his understanding of their ambitions, anxieties, and ideas. Through various youth forums, he has listened to their perspectives and believes their energy and talent are critical to advancing Ghana’s future.
“When I say to you that your concerns and aspirations are my top priorities, I mean it with every fiber of my being,” Bawumia told the audience.
His vision, he explained, includes a self-sustaining economy driven by the innovation and entrepreneurship of young people, particularly in fields like information technology, robotics, and the creative arts.
By building an inclusive, data-driven, and systems-based economy, Bawumia believes Ghana can join the global digital revolution and unlock the country’s vast potential. “I want to lead a nation that unleashes the talents of our youth, offers fair-paying jobs, and fosters sustainable growth with discipline,” he said.
The “Bawumia for Jobs” initiative, held nationwide and broadcast across major media platforms, highlighted Bawumia’s goal to make young Ghanaians an integral part of his governance strategy. He assured attendees that he would establish formal channels for the youth to influence policy-making.
“If you elect me as your next President, I promise to involve you—the young people of Ghana—in formal political processes, so your voices are heard and your ideas shape government policies,” he added.
This commitment echoes Bawumia’s campaign slogan, “To Lead is to Solve,” which underscores his determination to address youth concerns and create solutions tailored to their needs.
As he continues his campaign, Bawumia has extended an invitation to Generation Z to join him in realizing a future defined by opportunity and shared progress. “Together, we can transform this nation and achieve greatness across many areas,” he declared.
In his final remarks, Bawumia underscored the value he places on youth inclusivity in governance, promising that if elected, his administration will prioritize policies that make the Ghanaian youth a powerful force for positive change.
