Alban Sumana Bagbin, Speaker of Parliament, has advised Ghanaians to support the number eight, associating it with excellence.
He communicated this via a post on social media following the selection of number 8 for John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on the 2024 ballot.
“8 is excellence. Don’t break it. Choose it!” he posted.
John Dramani Mahama and the NDC will occupy the eighth position on the ballot for the December 7, 2024 elections.
On the other hand, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has focused its campaign on “breaking the eight.” They aim to extend their time in power beyond the usual eight-year political cycle in Ghana.
The NPP justifies this by stating that more time is needed to implement their policies and programs, which they believe will strengthen Ghana’s global standing.
Bagbin, however, maintains that the eight-year political cycle is sufficient, subtly suggesting that it contributes to maintaining a healthy democracy in the country.
