Zelensky to Present 'Victory Plan' to Biden, Harris, and Trump in US Visit

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will soon reveal his "victory plan" to President Joe Biden during his visit to the United States this week.
He also intends to share this plan with Congress and the two leading candidates for the upcoming U.S. presidential election, Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.
A Strategic Push for Victory
Zelensky’s plan aims to strengthen Ukraine’s position in the war against Russia. It focuses on three key areas:
- Increased Military Support – Zelensky is seeking more weapons and defense systems from Ukraine’s Western allies.
- Diplomatic Efforts for Peace – He hopes to push Russia into peace negotiations through heightened international pressure.
- Holding Russia Accountable – The plan calls for Russia to face consequences for its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, which began in 2022.
A significant part of Zelensky’s strategy is to convince the U.S. and other allies to ease restrictions on long-range missile usage.
He wants to launch strikes deeper into Russian territory, which could change the course of the war. "This autumn will determine the future of this war," Zelensky wrote in a recent post on X (formerly Twitter).
Growing US Military Aid
Zelensky’s visit coincides with the Biden administration preparing a new $375 million military aid package for Ukraine. The U.S. has already provided $56 billion in defense assistance, making it Ukraine’s largest supporter in the war.
While Biden has been cautious about allowing Ukraine to use U.S.-supplied long-range missiles to hit targets in Russia, Zelensky will likely increase his push for this approval.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned that such strikes would be seen as direct NATO involvement in the conflict.
Engaging with US Presidential Candidates
In addition to meeting President Biden, Zelensky plans to meet with Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump, both of whom are expected to compete in the 2024 U.S. presidential election.
Trump has previously been critical of U.S. support for Ukraine and has praised Putin. However, he has indicated that he would "probably" meet with Zelensky.
Trump has floated the idea of ending the war within 24 hours if he is re-elected, though he has not provided specific details on how he would accomplish this.
Diplomatic Tour Across the US
Before arriving in Washington, Zelensky visited a munitions factory in Scranton, Pennsylvania, President Biden’s hometown. The factory plays a crucial role in supplying munitions to Ukraine.
After his meetings in Washington, Zelensky will travel to New York to attend a United Nations Security Council meeting. He is also scheduled to address the UN General Assembly.
This visit marks a critical point for Zelensky’s efforts to gain continued military and diplomatic support from the U.S. and its allies. As the war continues, Ukraine looks to solidify its position both on the battlefield and in global diplomacy.
