The Ghana Police Service is actively hunting for a gang of armed robbers who carried out a daring robbery in Adabraka, Accra, on Saturday, November 2, 2024.
The incident, which unfolded at the bustling Adabraka Market, saw four masked men ambush a man sitting in a red Toyota Corolla, parked near a jewelry store. The robbers fired shots into the air, sending bystanders into panic as shoppers and vendors scrambled for cover.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic. One vendor reported, “We heard loud gunfire, and suddenly everyone was running for safety. The robbers demanded the car’s boot be opened and then loaded large bags of money into their vehicle before speeding away.”
According to witnesses, the robbers arrived in a Toyota Highlander and managed to escape with sacks of cash. As they fled, the assailants scattered money into the air to distract onlookers, ensuring no one would intervene.
One witness explained that this incident marks the second time such a brazen robbery has occurred in the area, expressing frustration that police arrived after the robbers had already fled.
In response, the Ghana Police issued a statement assuring the public that every effort is being made to apprehend the criminals and bring them to justice.
Korle Klottey MP Zanetor Rawlings visited the crime scene soon after the robbery, urging the police and the Ministry of the Interior to take additional steps to ensure citizens' safety, particularly as the nation approaches its upcoming elections.
