In a notable case in Ghana, a 31-year-old farmer named Isaac Atimbisa has been sentenced to eight months in prison for the theft of agricultural products.

The Asante Abuakwa Circuit Court found Atimbisa guilty of stealing six bunches of plantain and two sacks of cassava, valued at GH₵350, from a farm in Sepaase, located in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality.

The prosecution, led by Police Inspector Evans Baaba Ayimbisa, presented the case before Mrs. Philomina Asiedu, the presiding judge.

According to the prosecution, the incident occurred on October 12, when the complainant, Joseph Amankwah, a mason residing in Sepaase, spotted Atimbisa carrying the stolen produce along the roadside. Suspecting foul play, Amankwah alerted his neighbors, who helped him confront Atimbisa.

During questioning, Atimbisa confessed to the theft and was subsequently handed over to the Sepaase Police.

He later led officers to the complainant's farm, where the crime took place. Given his admission of guilt, Atimbisa was charged and brought before the court, resulting in his conviction.
